Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS). Didactics for string instruments

Esta Italia is pleased to announce the opening of registration for the next two-year period for the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS). Didactics for String Instruments.

Structure

The duration of the course is 2 years (4 semesters).

The course is designed to give the possibility of attendance also to those who for professional or family reasons cannot guarantee a weekly presence on site. As a rule, it is developed in condensed weekend sessions and includes a series of group lessons and the preparation and drafting of a final written work.

The course provides for the attainment of at least 11 ECTS (university credits) broken down as follows:

  • Disciplinary teaching (90 hours, including personal work) 3 ECTS
  • Elements of Psychology and Didactics (30 hours, including personal work) 1 ECTS
  • Specialist Seminars (120 hours, including personal work) 4 ECTS
  • Final work (90 hours, including personal work) 3 ECTS

  • 9-11 February 2024

  • 12-14 April 2024

Programme

The syllabus includes in-depth study of the following areas (subject to change):

1st year
Acquisition of information in the field of psychology and general education

  • Theory of motivation and communication aspects
  • Goal Theory
  • Motor development aspects of learning a string instrument
  • Development of study strategies in music (Development of self-regulation)

2nd year
Acquisition of information in the field of psychology and general education

  • Developmental theory and learning theory
  • Psychomotor development
  • Different teaching strategies and approaches (Modelling)
  • Lesson Evaluation
  • Organisation, planning, implementation of group lessons

Objectives

  • Acquire information in the field of psychology and general didactics (motivation theory, development theory, learning theory, communication...) ;
  • To know, deepen, update and know how to apply in one's teaching the specific methodological knowledge related to teaching one's musical instrument (limited to string instruments, both in individual and group settings) with students of different levels and age groups, individual lessons, small groups, large groups.

Conditions of admission

Admission to the course requires:

  • the completion of a musical education (Bachelor, Master or equivalent);
  • an admission dossier deemed suitable by the commission.

The total cost amounts to CHF 2,500, divided as follows:
