In his presentation, Masha Lankovsky explores the characteristics of the Moscow Violin school also known as the Soviet school - a tradition distinct from the Russian school of Leopold Auer. She examines the pedagogy of Yuri Yankelevich and teachers of this school in relation to the connection between mental perception and physical execution and how these principles can be applied to the teaching of bowed instruments today. Masha Lankovsky wrote for The Strad magazine and published the edition and translation of Yankelevich's writings for Oxford University Press.
