The 46th ESTA International Conference Malta

The 46th International Conference of the European String Teachers Association will be held in Malta from 10 to 14 April 2018. The International Conference takes place annually in a European country adhering to ESTA and the activities differ from year to year, while maintaining the same appointments in agenda such as concerts, updates and innovations in the pedagogical field, master classes, round tables and cultural events.
Pedagogical innovation is always one of the objectives of the ESTA International Conferences and this conference aims to deepen the understanding required to address local shortcomings when it comes to musical literacy.

The International Conference will coincide with the First National Children's Violin competition, with the pilot project Bumm Bumm il-Bieb which aims to allow all elementary school children to read and sing a melodic line and with preparations for the Play-day, a project between the Maltese and Italian sections that will allow many young musicians to gather for a final concert during the days of this International Conference.

The International Conference will involve several internationally renowned artists, including Prof. Eylem Arica (Turkey), Erich Scheungraber (Germany), Eva Belvelin (Sweden),
Kjell-Oke Hamren (Sweden), Ines Ana Badanjak (Croatia) and Dr Philip Ciantar (Malta).

During the International Conference there will be an important moment dedicated to the final work of the famous Maltese composer Charles Camilleri. Ample space will also be given to Joseph Vella's contemporary music sessions as well as to young composers, providing a mini showcase of contemporary Maltese music. A local collaboration will include teachers from the School of Performing Arts of the University of Malta.

The main venue of the International Conference will be the Catholic Institute of Floriana.
It will be available to members of the Malta Youth Orchestra, who will be encouraged not only to attend events but also to assist and collaborate with visiting artists.
An exhibition will be open during the conference.
The 46th ESTA International Conference is approved by the Valletta Foundation 2018.
